He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians Glasgow, U.K., Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist United Kingdom and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Dr. Hassan has worked in various capacities at senior management levels, including Senior Consultant positions in many countries like Great Britain, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. He is a seasoned professional and an
astute businessman, with strong leadership capability, passion for excellence and integrity. He is the founder and Chairman of the Eye Foundation Hospital Group, Kunle Hassan Eye Foundation Academy and Deseret Community Vision Institute. He is the Chairman Board of Directors of the Summit Healthcare Group of Companies. The Eye Foundation Hospital Group pioneered the transformation of ophthalmic healthcare delivery in Nigeria and continues to drive excellence and expand its reach to many states and communities in Nigeria. He is a Council Member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and was recently appointed by International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) as Advocacy Coordinator for Africa. Dr. Hassan is a Member of Ogun State University Medical Council; Member, National Committee on the Prevention of Blindness; Member National Task Force for Vision 2020. Dr Adekunle Hassan is a recipient of several lifetime achievement and excellence awards. He is the first Nigerian and African to be honoured with the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Mark Tso Golden Apple Award. The award is presented to leaders in international ophthalmology for demonstrated innovation or exceptional achievements in ophthalmic education.
Dr. Kunle Hassan was the founding Chief Executive Officer of Health Partners Limited from 2006 – 2009 and was a member of the Board of Directors of Diamond Bank Plc (now Access Bank PLC). He is currently the Chairman of the board of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Management Board, Sagamu Ogun State.
